Hello again folks! I am over the moon about Wolverhampton Wanderers being the #1 team in the English Football League Championship at the moment with seven wins and a draw in their first eight [8] games and twenty three [23] goals too! So today I was looking at the BBC sports web-site today in anticipation of Wolves' next game tomorrow against Reading when I stumbled on some 'news' regarding the Church of England:-
I'll summarize for you. The CoE has put advertisements in some of the Midlands football clubs' programmes asking readers to "return to church". Why? Because marketing and polling experts ['researchers'] have told them that six million [6,000,000] people would "return to church" if somebody asked them!
So much for the 'Alpha Course'; the 'Purpose Driven Life' et al. Folks, we've all missed the mark. All we ever needed to do was to ask people to come to church and the CoE would now be bursting at the seams ... let alone other denominations.
I have a message for the CoE on what to do to arrest their slide - from the good book:-
"Preach the word; be instant in season, out of season; reprove, rebuke, exhort with all longsuffering and doctrine." [2 Timothy 4:2]
There's no need for advertising campaigns; ecumenism; the 'social gospel'; redundant 'bible' or 'life question' courses or any other gimmicks. Please just stick to the Great Commission:-
"Go ye therefore, and teach all nations, baptizing them in the name of the Father, and of the Son, and of the Holy Ghost: Teaching them to observe all things whatsoever I have commanded you: and, lo, I am with you alway, even unto the end of the world. Amen." [Matthew 28:19-20]
Try God's [narrow] Way instead of fallen man's [wide] ways and, you never know, you might just see some real growth; not necessarily in numbers at first - but in spiritual maturity - the real measure.
God bless you and God bless Israel ... KJS ... 29-Sep-2008
