Hello again folks! Yesterday, on a rare Saturday off for Julie; the Sinclair Four [+ 1] visited Cadbury World and then the Clent Hills. It was a lovely sunny, warm day. Us Brits seem to have nad our summer this year in June and September!
It is interesting that Cadburys were founded by Quakers and the factory in Bournville; Birmingham is a good half-day out. It is also interesting that the Cadburys Christian ethic meant that their workers were not exploited but had a life outside of work. There is a Bible displayed in the 'Bournville Experience' open at Genesis Chapter One. Every lady Cadbury worker was presented with a Bible on their Wedding Day by the Company. I have to say that I was impressed ... and the family loved the chocolate! I couldn't resist buying a bar of dairy milk chocolate - rum and raisin flavour - of course!
Later we went for a ride to the Clent Hills past the now derelict and emptied Longbridge plant - another 'sign of the times'. It was so warm and sunny up there on the hills. So many folks walking their dogs or themselves. There's nothing like feeling the warm rays of the sun on your face. Yesterday; I could see clearly the Costwolds; the Malverns; Clee Hill and the Wrekin in one panoramic view. We just don't realise what's on our doorstep here in the Midlands or any other part of the UK. We [still] have the freedom [relatively speaking] to visit these places unhindered. A common thread of my ELO BEATLES FOREVER blog is "you never know what you've got until it's gone" for a variety of reasons. That thought kept coming to mind all day. I wonder if there's a message in it for me - and for you guys. Be Bereans; watchmen must warn; evangelists must compel; watch the periphery; DO NOT BE DECEIVED!
God bless you and God bless Israel ... Keith JS ... 26-Sep-2009
