#796: Hello again folks! There is a growing furore regarding the banning of a certain Church of England advert. The plan was to show the sixty second featurette before the forthcoming film "Star Wars: The Force Awakens" from Thursday 17th December in selected cinemas but nationwide distributors declined to include it because it might offend those of "differing faiths and no faith". The advert features different folks reciting The Lord's Prayer.
Whilst I understand why the CoE might have thought the campaign was a good idea, it is mistaken to do so on two counts. First of all, it is short cut evangelism on the world's terms. The CoE should concentrate on living their faith out and making a difference rather than relying on worldly methods at significant cost using resources that could be better spent elsewhere. Secondly, the United Kingdom is no longer a nominal Christian country. In fact, the UK is more accommodating to atheists and islam than Christianity these days. A real revival will only come from people and not an organization. Learn the lessons of history. Rant over!
Real Bereans [Acts 17:11] are truly needed; watchmen must warn; evangelists must compel; DO NOT BE DECEIVED and watch that periphery!
