Made Perfect in Weakness

#860: We all have weaknesses and areas of our lives where our defences are sometimes a little lighter. Paul had his thorn in the flesh and the Lord told him that His grace was sufficient for the apostle. When it comes to burdens, weaknesses and our own thorns in the flesh, there are several ways in which the Lord will choose to lead us. Jesus told His disciples to take up their cross daily and a prime message of the New Testament is the need to be (continuously) dying to self but we should not forget that God still heals and that He also can give us strength to endure where before we were weak to submit to our flesh.

For sure, I can testify to the saving grace and strength of the Lord in that I have not been healed of or wholly delivered from my own thorn in the flesh but I am now aware of a heightened ability to deny self and overcome my stumbling block. It is true to say that the Lord has a plan for each of us specifically tailored to suit who we are, where we have been and where He wants us to go. It is true also to say that we should be of the mindset of denying ourselves and living Christ daily. Yes God does heal but He also strengthens and gives us His Power to overcome.

"But if you do not drive out the inhabitants of the land from before you, then it shall be that those whom you let remain shall be irritants in your eyes and thorns in your sides, and they shall harass you in the land where you dwell."
~ Numbers 33:55 ~

"And lest I should be exalted above measure by the abundance of the revelations, a thorn in the flesh was given to me, a messenger of Satan to buffet me, lest I be exalted above measure. Concerning this thing I pleaded with the Lord three times that it might depart from me. And He said to me, “My grace is sufficient for you, for My strength is made perfect in weakness.” Therefore most gladly I will rather boast in my infirmities, that the power of Christ may rest upon me. Therefore I take pleasure in infirmities, in reproaches, in needs, in persecutions, in distresses, for Christ’s sake. For when I am weak, then I am strong."
~ II Corinthians 12:7-10 ~

One Day Increased to Two

#859: This particular writer is thoroughly enjoying reading through The Apocrypha during my lunch breaks at work. Yours Truly KJS therefore found it very interesting (and quite timely) that while I was finishing up reading The Wisdom of Sirach earlier today, it just so happened that I came across certain verses concerning Joshua. We read ...

"Joshua, the son of Nun, was mighty in war, And the successor of Moses in prophesying. He became, as his name describes him, Great to save his chosen, To take vengeance on the enemies that that rose up against them, So that he might give Israel their possessions. How glorious he was when he lifted up his hands, And pointed his sword at the towns! Before him whoever stood so fast? For he carried on the wars of the Lord. Was not the sun stayed by his hand, And one day increased to two? He called on the Most High Ruler, When his enemies pressed upon him on all sides, And the great Lord answered him with hailstones of mighty power." (Sirach 46:1-6)

How wonderful to seethe truths of Joshua 10 cited here too confirming that the sun was indeed held back long enough to count as two days, a sign and wonder improbable if not impossible for the heliocentric cosmology model and evidently possible if one accepts the biblical Flat Earth model. Note also that the name Joshua (which can be read Yeshua) means "Great to save His Chosen". We should take the Bible literally unless instructed otherwise and accept the power, majesty and sovereignty of God over His Creation. Perhaps you may also enjoy reading this related recent KJS article too ...

The Daughter of Jephthah

#858: Nestled in the midst of The Book of Judges is the tragic story of the daughter of Jephthah, the unnamed (only) virgin daughter of a judge of Israel who, if we take the text as literal, paid the ultimate price for a vow made unto God without forethought by her father. We read in Judges chapter 11 that Jephthah was born of a prostitute in Gilead before fleeing his brethren and living in the land of Tob. He was "a mighty man of valour" (11:1) who was later sought by the elders of Gilead to be their captain and lead their troops when the Ammonites made war with Israel.

After his appeal to the children of Ammon was ignored, Jephthah vowed this vow unto the Lord: "If You will indeed deliver the people of Ammon into my hands, then it will be that whatever comes out of the doors of my house to meet me, when I return in peace from the people of Ammon, shall surely be the Lord’s, and I will offer it up as a burnt offering." (11:30-31) The tragedy was that after Jephthah had vanquished twenty cities the Ammonites, he returned to his birthplace in Mizpeh and his only daughter came out to him "with timbrels and dancing" meaning that it would be his virgin daughter who would be offered as a burnt offering unto the Lord. After two months of bewailing her virginity, we read that Jephthah "did with her according to his vow" (11:39) and "the daughters of Israel went yearly to lament the daughter of Jephthah the Gileadite four days in a year" (11:40).

Some commentators state that his daughter was not actually sacrificed but held in seclusion, dedicated to the Lord and that human sacrifice was forbidden in the Torah. Whilst that might be the case, we should remember that the plain text seems to state that this event happened, literally. We should also remember that God tested Abraham regarding the sacrifice of his son Isaac before providing another offering at the due time (Genesis 22:1-14).

During the period of the judges of Israel we see that the Israelites often went whoring after other gods (despite repeated warnings and chastisements) and were only saved from their enemies by the mercy and grace of God through the likes of Othniel, Ehud, Deborah, Samson and Gideon. It is likely that they even forgot the Law as they backslid from the Lord after they had entered the Promised Land. With this in mind, in making his hasty vow and seemingly following through with it, Jephthah learnt a heavy lesson when dealing with the Lord as he lost his only daughter and his legacy. Some years later, King Solomon wrote these inspired words perhaps recalling the sorry story of the daughter of Jephthah in doing so ...

"When you make a vow to God, do not delay to pay it; For He has no pleasure in fools. Pay what you have vowed — Better not to vow than to vow and not pay."
~ Ecclesiastes 5:4-5 ~

What Jesus Said About Himself

#857: I stumbled across some old preaching notes from at least 15 years ago earlier this week and it is wonderful to rediscover this particular word study. I remember going through the Gospel of John listing specific verses where the Lord Jesus Christ made statements about Himself, where He was from and Who He Was, Is and Is to come. Our Messiah couldn't do anything other than tell the truth as He is The Way, The Truth and The Life (John 14:6).

Yours Truly KJS still finds it amazing and humbling as to how many times the phrase "I AM" appears throughout the twenty nine (29) scriptures cited below. We should worship Him with all our being, our heart, our mind, our soul and our body. We read ...
  • "The woman said to Him, “I know that Messiah is coming” (who is called Christ). “When He comes, He will tell us all things.” Jesus said to her, “I who speak to you am He.” (4:25-26)
  • "But Jesus answered them, “My Father has been working until now, and I have been working.” (5:17)
  • "I can of Myself do nothing. As I hear, I judge; and My judgment is righteous, because I do not seek My own will but the will of the Father who sent Me." (5:30)
  • "You search the Scriptures, for in them you think you have eternal life; and these are they which testify of Me." (5:39)
  • "I am the bread of life. He who comes to Me shall never hunger, and he who believes in Me shall never thirst." (6:35)
  • "For I have come down from heaven, not to do My own will, but the will of Him who sent Me. (6:38)
  • "No one can come to Me unless the Father who sent Me draws him; and I will raise him up at the last day." (6:44)
  • "Most assuredly, I say to you, he who believes in Me has everlasting life." (6:47)
  • "I am the bread of life." (6:48)
  • "I am the living bread which came down from heaven. If anyone eats of this bread, he will live forever; and the bread that I shall give is My flesh, which I shall give for the life of the world." (6:51)
  • "Whoever eats My flesh and drinks My blood has eternal life, and I will raise him up at the last day." (6:54)
  • "You both know Me, and you know where I am from; and I have not come of Myself, but He who sent Me is true, whom you do not know. But I know Him, for I am from Him, and He sent Me." (7:28-29)
  • "I am the light of the world. He who follows Me shall not walk in darkness, but have the light of life." (8:12)
  • "And yet if I do judge, My judgment is true; for I am not alone, but I am with the Father who sent Me." (8:16)
  • "I am One who bears witness of Myself, and the Father who sent Me bears witness of Me." (8:18)
  • "You are from beneath; I am from above. You are of this world; I am not of this world. Therefore I said to you that you will die in your sins; for if you do not believe that I am He, you will die in your sins." (8:23-24)
  • "When you lift up the Son of Man, then you will know that I am He, and that I do nothing of Myself; but as My Father taught Me, I speak these things." (8:28)
  • "If you abide in My word, you are My disciples indeed." (8:31)
  • "If God were your Father, you would love Me, for I proceeded forth and came from God; nor have I come of Myself, but He sent Me." (8:42)
  • "Most assuredly, I say to you, if anyone keeps My word he shall never see death." (8:51)
  • "Yet you have not known Him, but I know Him ... and keep His word. Your father Abraham rejoiced to see My day, and he saw it and was glad."(8:54-56)
  • "Most assuredly, I say to you, before Abraham was, I AM." (8:58)
  • "I must work the works of Him who sent Me while it is day; the night is coming when no one can work. As long as I am in the world, I am the light of the world." (9:4-5)
  • "He answered and said, “Who is He, Lord, that I may believe in Him?” And Jesus said to him, “You have both seen Him and it is He who is talking with you." (9:36-37)
  • "Most assuredly, I say to you, I am the door of the sheep." (10:7)
  • "I am the door. If anyone enters by Me, he will be saved, and will go in and out and find pasture." (10:9)
  • "I am the good shepherd. The good shepherd gives His life for the sheep." (10:11)
  • "I am the good shepherd; and I know My sheep, and am known by My own. As the Father knows Me, even so I know the Father; and I lay down My life for the sheep." (10:14-15)
  • "I am the way, the truth, and the life. No one comes to the Father except through Me." (14:6)

Joshua 10: The Longest Day

#856: I'm really enjoying my daily trawl of the Holy Bible from Genesis (the Book of Beginnings) onward. There is so much spiritual nourishment, wisdom, knowledge and history written under the inspiration of the Holy Spirit (II Peter 1:21) that we really should keep studying again and again lest we forget the wonders of God, His Creation and His Plan of True Salvation for Jew and Gentile alike. This week I've had another read of the Book of Joshua and I can't help but consider that there is evidence therein for the Biblical Flat Earth cosmology that I've considered recently here and here. We read in Joshua 10:1-14 that after the Lord had taken the city of Ai, the five kings of the Amorites - the kings of Jerusalem (Adonizedek), Hebron (Hoham), Jarmuth (Piram), Lachish (Japhia) and Eglon (Debir) - formed an alliance to destroy Gibeon because they had made peace with the children of Israel. Joshua led the armies of Israel against the confederacy of the five kings and, as the quintet fled their pursuers, the Lord cast down large hailstones on them before granting Joshua's request to literally stop the circle of the sun and delay its going down "about a full day" so that a full and complete victory over their foes was completed. We are told that "there was no day like that before it or after it ... for the LORD fought for Israel."
The Biblical Flat Earth model supports the Joshua 10 account ...
Now Yours Truly KJS is of the mind that one should take the Word of God literally unless otherwise stated. This applies to all 66 books of the Bible (and the books of the Apocryphica too). Hence, I have no problem with a six day creation narrative or the prophetic timetable of Revelation (the Book of Unveiling). The account in Joshua 10 is wondrous if not amazing and, in my considered opinion, it supports a biblical flat earth model more than the spherical earth theory. We are led to believe by so-called scientists that the earth is currently spinning at circa 1,000 miles per hour whilst orbiting the Sun at 66,600 mph with the Sun apparently speeding through the galaxy at 450,000 mph in what is effectively an ever spiralling vortex (see diagram below). Consider then the alternate view that the earth is stationary (see above diagram) with the sun and moon circling each other once every 24 hours. Surely restraining the path of the Sun in the flat earth scenario for up to 12 hours fits the events of Joshua 10 much more than the earth supposedly ceasing to spin for the same period of time in the heliocentric model? I absolutely believe that this fantastic event did literally happen so a cursory reading of Joshua 10:12-14 is warranted, as is a honest investigation of a biblical flat earth model.
Currently accepted solar-centric cosmology does not fit Joshua 10 ...
"Then Joshua spoke to the Lord in the day when the Lord delivered up the Amorites before the children of Israel, and he said in the sight of Israel: “Sun, stand still over Gibeon; And Moon, in the Valley of Aijalon.” So the sun stood still, And the moon stopped, Till the people had revenge upon their enemies. Is this not written in the Book of Jasher? So the sun stood still in the midst of heaven, and did not hasten to go down for about a whole day. And there has been no day like that, before it or after it, that the Lord heeded the voice of a man; for the Lord fought for Israel."

That's what's on my heart tonight. Be blessed.

Another Reason to Witness

#855: There are many motivations for witnessing the True Gospel of the Kingdom to our lost family, friends and even enemies. The Lord truly is not willing that any should perish but that all should come to repentance (II Peter 3:9). The Lord Jesus Christ said during His sermon on the mount that "Blessed are they that mourn, for they shall be comforted" (Matthew 5:4). He also tells the Apostle John in the Book of the Revelation that one day "God shall wipe away all tears from their eyes; and there shall be no more death, neither sorrow, nor crying, neither shall there be any more pain: for the former things are passed away." (Revelation 21:4).

Jesus also spoke the familiar testimony (and was not a parable as some suppose) about a rich man and a beggar named Lazarus wherein Lazarus died and resided in a place called Abraham's bosom and the rich man died and was found in hell (Luke 16:19-31). He called upon Abraham and asked that he would send Lazarus to his five living brothers and warn them of his end. Proverbs 10:7 also tells us that "The memory of the just is blessed: but the name of the wicked shall rot." whereas Isaiah 26:14 tells us that Israel's other lords had been destroyed and the Lord has "made their memory to perish."

The scriptures tell us that the redeemed shall be comforted, blessed and their memories healed. It is therefore not a stretch to say that the saved will not remember their lost family and friends in eternity. On the other hand, the scriptures also reveal in places that the lost will remember their lives, their decisions and their living kin that they left behind upon their death. They will retain remembrance of their lives yet be forgotten by their saved friends and family. Perhaps the very thought of such an immense tragedy will inspire us to witness the True Gospel to those that are without all the more.

That's what's on my heart today. Be blessed.

Malachy Machinations

#854: The Prophecy of the Popes is attributed to Saint Malachy (the 12th century Archbishop of Armagh) and is thought to be a vague list of Roman Catholic Popes up to and including the 112th and final Pope known as Peter the Roman or Petrus Romanus. The name Petrus Romanus is accompanied with this description: "Peter the Roman, who will pasture his sheep in many tribulations, and when these things are finished, the city of seven hills will be destroyed, and the dreadful judge will judge his people. The End." It's relatively easy to link Malachy's so-called prophecy to the Second Coming of the Lord Jesus Christ, the rise of the Antichrist and False Prophet as well as the destruction of Mystery Babylon as detailed in the Book of the Revelation.

If we take these prognostications as literal and at face value, then things potentially get interesting. Pope Francis was born on Thursday 17th December 1936 making him on the way to his 83rd birthday later this year. If (and I mean if) the present Pope is that final Pope, then the closure of this present age is perhaps much nearer than we might imagine. This all depends, of course, on the accuracy of this so-called prophecy and/or the length of Pope Francis' lifetime. Yours Truly KJS does not advocate date setting when it comes to eschatology. Whilst it is a true saying that we are not even sure of tomorrow, the Word of God constantly reminds us to be ready when it comes to our attitude in these Last Days. One thing is for sure, True Believers are in for a bumpy ride in days yet future - be it persecution, testing by fire, the hatred of the world for His Name's sake and (in many cases) martyrdom. One could say the end is nearer than we think.

That's what's on my heart tonight. Be blessed.

Neither Add nor Subtract

#853: The Bible explicitly warns all not to twist or misrepresent the Word of God. The chief manner of doing this is removing or adding words and/or phrases (if not more) to make the Bible appear to support the false doctrines of demons (also known as heresy) and/or the false religion of man. This is serious stuff and it's the reason why all True Believers need to be both familiar with Holy Writ and led of the Holy Spirit. Remember that true worshippers shall worship the Father in Spirit and in Truth (John 4:23). We read in both the Old and New Testaments these inspired words ...

"Ye shall not add to the word which I command you, nor take from it, that you may keep the commandments of the Lord your God which I command you." ~ Deuteronomy 4:2

"For I testify to everyone who hears the words of the prophecy of this book: If anyone adds to these things, God will add to him the plagues that are written in this book; and if anyone takes away from the words of the book of this prophecy, God shall take away his part from the Book of Life, from the holy city, and from the things which are written in this book." ~ Revelation 22:18-19

The above admonitions are essential as we try to navigate the increasing deception of the last days. For example, I note with interest that some supporters of the pre-tribulation rapture defend it by saying the fact that although there is no specific verse supporting their theory is because it is implicit in the text but not explicit. The same excuse is used for defending cessationism or accommodating the millions of years of gap theory in the Genesis account of creation. These are dangerous things to do because one necessarily ignores the clear warning of scripture. In other words, quite simply: DO NOT IGNORE THIS FACT ... FROM THE WORD OF GOD ... NEITHER ADD NOR SUBTRACT!

That's what's on my heart tonight. Be blessed.

Beware Pre-Trib Rapture Hysteria

#852: The last month has seen a plethora of folks of the pre-tribulation rapture mindset put out various statements and YouTube videos claiming their rapture is imminent, be it either due to the end of Israel's 70th year back on Tuesday 14th May or the forthcoming feast of Pentecost on Sunday 9th June. As previously covered in my article Why Pre-Trib Theorists Should Revisit Their Rapture Timing on Wednesday 27th March, Yours Truly KJS is much concerned about this misleading and frankly errant teaching because it will likely be a major component of the forthcoming apostasia of the church in advance of the true rapture which I believe will be on or around the sixth seal.

Pastor Dean Odle of Fire & Grace Church over the pond in Alabama shares the above concern and is also a proponent of biblical flat earth cosmology and the biblical creation model by extension as well as being (in my opinion) in an agreeable position on cessationism too. I was blessed by his latest message entitled: Pre-Tribbers Gone Wild (click here to view) earlier today. It's worth viewing if you are so inclined. One of the things highlighted by Dean Odle in the aforementioned video is that not a few people are making bold statements regarding the rapture occurring as early as next weekend yet they deny that they are date setting when in fact they are prophesying falsely, in some cases with impunity. There are many, many parallel deceptions currently taking place in the world and in Churchianity. Never has the need been so urgent for believers to return to their bibles and seek the illumination of Holy Spirit as there is now.

"Now as He sat on the Mount of Olives, the disciples came to Him privately, saying, “Tell us, when will these things be? And what will be the sign of Your coming, and of the end of the age?” And Jesus answered and said to them: Take heed that no one deceives you. For many will come in My name, saying, ‘I am the Christ,’ and will deceive many." (Matthew 24:3-5)

The Journey from Law to Grace

#851: If there are two facets of the Old and New Testaments that stand out when it comes to the affairs of the Lord and fallen man it is that of the law in the former and justification by faith in the latter. And if there was one issue that the Apostle Paul addressed with passion and admonition it is the relationship between law and grace, particularly when Judaisers infiltrated the early church tempting believers to place themselves again under the yoke of the law.

One theme that I've been reminded of as Yours Truly KJS has been again traversing the Pentateuch recently is the development of the law from God's covenant with the descendants of Abraham, Isaac and Jacob. Yet for all its truth, whilst the law demonstrated how far short we are of the Holiness and Righteousness of God, it could only bridge the gap until something better was in place. The prophet Samuel told Saul that obedience was better than sacrifice (I Samuel 15:22) whilst the prophet Jeremiah spoke of a new covenant with the law now written on hearts and minds (Jeremiah 31:31-33), this being underlined by Paul in his first letter to the church in Corinth (I Corinthians 11:23-26).

Keeping in mind that the Lord Jesus Christ told His disciples that to love Him is to keep His commandments, we see the transfer of the law, so to speak, from the external to the internal, from the natural to the spiritual, from the old man to the new man. Paul taught the early church that the law was in fact the schoolmaster that came before the appropriation of righteousness by faith (Galatians 3:24) and that the blood sacrifices of animals could not take away the sins of the world (Hebrews 10:4) whereas the precious shed blood of Messiah Yeshua could not only take away our sins but also impute righteousness to believers and meet the requirements of the law.

We see a journey from the wilderness, the apparent harshness of the law of Moses to the promised land of justification by faith. The Father has given us as a free gift of that which we could never earn in the Finished Work of His Son Jesus Christ and an advocate in the Person, power and gifts of His Holy Spirit. He has made True Salvation possible for all by His amazing grace. This is even more wondrous than the glory of the stars above the firmament and the miracle of new life. Perhaps you may wish to consider the scriptures below anew with prayers of thanksgiving ...

"Behold, the days are coming, says the Lord, when I will make a new covenant with the house of Israel and with the house of Judah - not according to the covenant that I made with their fathers in the day that I took them by the hand to lead them out of the land of Egypt, My covenant which they broke, though I was a husband to them, says the Lord. But this is the (new) covenant that I will make with the house of Israel after those days, says the Lord: I will put My law in their minds, and write it on their hearts; and I will be their God, and they shall be My people."
~ Jeremiah 31:31-33 ~

"Has the Lord as great delight in burnt offerings and sacrifices, As in obeying the voice of the Lord? Behold, to obey is better than sacrifice, And to heed than the fat of rams."
~ I Samuel 15:22 ~

"For it is not possible that the blood of bulls and goats could take away sins."
~ Hebrews 10:4 ~

"But before faith came, we were kept under guard by the law, kept for the faith which would afterward be revealed. Therefore the law was our tutor to bring us to Christ, that we might be justified by faith. But after faith has come, we are no longer under a tutor."
~ Galatians 3:24 ~

"If you love Me, keep My commandments."
~ John 14:15 ~

"For I received from the Lord that which I also delivered to you: that the Lord Jesus on the same night in which He was betrayed took bread; and when He had given thanks, He broke it and said, “Take, eat; this is My body which is broken for you; do this in remembrance of Me.” In the same manner He also took the cup after supper, saying, “This cup is the new covenant in My blood. This do, as often as you drink it, in remembrance of Me.” For as often as you eat this bread and drink this cup, you proclaim the Lord’s death till He comes."
~ I Corinthians 11: 23-26 ~

The Book of Tobit

#850: Aside from my now regular reading of accepted canonical scripture, Yours Truly KJS has also been delving not only into The Book of Enoch (well worth a read or three in light of Genesis 6 as a minimum) but also the volume of books known as The Apocrypha. Please be reassured that I am no symphasiser of the Roman Catholic Church or its doctrines but I think that there is some value in reading these post-Bible texts. Earlier this week I read through the book of Tobit and, if I am honest, I was blessed by the story of a righteous man named Tobit, his wife Hannah, his son Tobias, a young lady named Sarah and the archangel Raphael. There are elements of and parallels to Job and Esther in this story and an ending resulting in the praises of God for his provision and deliverance. If you are so minded, have a read! You may also wish to consider these words from Tobit 13: 14-18 in light of established biblical prophecy ...

"Blessed are those who love you!
They will rejoice in your peace,
Blessed are those who grieved over all your stripes,
For they will be glad about you,
When they see all your glory,
And they will rejoice forever.
Let my soul bless God, the great King,
For Jerusalem will be built of sapphire and emerald,
And her walls of precious stones,
And her towers and battlements of pure gold;
And the streets of Jerusalem will be paved with beryl and ruby and stones of Ophir,
And all her lanes shall say "Hallelujah," and shall utter praise,
Saying, "Blessed be God, who has raised you up forever."

That's what's on my heart tonight. Be blessed.

For Now We See Him Dimly

#849: Experienced Bible students know that when studying the Word of God one knows when to take scripture literally for the Bible tells us when we are reading prophecy or history or allegory or poetry or parable. The list goes on. Yours Truly KJS is most certainly a believer in the historical authenticity of the Holy Bible because every page is God breathed Truth. I therefore have no problem in taking the Genesis account of Creation literally including the dividing of the waters by a solid, translucent firmament and the amazing implication that the earth is flat and not a sphere. I'll write more on that subject in days yet future but today I want to share something wonderful with you. Back in 2001, I had to leave what was our church after five years of fellowship on account of the doctrine of Cessationism wherein the Lord showed the teaching that the gifts of the Spirit (the charismata) had ceased when the Apostolic age ended and the Bible was compiled. Now one of the scriptures quoted at me was I Corinthians 13:8-12 where in verse 10 the adjective perfect was taught as being the Bible and I believed it meant the eternal state. We read ...

"Love never fails. But whether there are prophecies, they will fail; whether there are tongues, they will cease; whether there is knowledge, it will vanish away. For we know in part and we prophesy in part. But when that which is perfect has come, then that which is in part will be done away. When I was a child, I spoke as a child, I understood as a child, I thought as a child; but when I became a man, I put away childish things. For now we see in a mirror (glass), dimly (darkly), but then face to face. Now I know in part, but then I shall know just as I also am known." (I Corinthians 13: 8-12)

My recent investigations as to the reality of the firmament, mentioned directly seventeen (17) times in the books of Genesis, Psalms, Ezekiel and Daniel, led me to many other places. One of the scriptures I turned to was Ezekiel 1:22 which states: "The likeness of the firmament above the heads of the living creatures was like the colour of an awesome (terrible) crystal, stretched out over their heads."
Does this photograph show the firmament over Antarctica?
Those inspired words infer that the firmament is crystal or even perhaps crystal glass in appearance and/or structure and when one also reads Isaiah 40:22 and understands that the Lord "sits above the circle of the earth ... Who stretches out the heavens like a curtain, And spreads them out like a tent to dwell in." you could be forgiven for thinking that the majesty of God Almighty (El Gibor) is directly above the firmament and by extension above us, literally! Perhaps the Northern Lights are a very real and visible sign of His glory shining or refracting through the firmament.

Now here is my amazing discovery. When Paul wrote "For now we see in a mirror (glass), dimly (darkly), but then face to face" (I Corinthians 13:12) in relation to the ceasing of prophecies, tongues and knowledge, this writer believes that he had the firmament in view, literally. In other words, now we see the glory of God dimly (darkly) through the firmament but then, when we see Him face to face in our new bodies, those spiritual gifts will not be needed and will cease. It has nothing to do with the canon of scripture. This, to me, is a wonderful confirmation that squares the circle when it comes to Cessationism and my spiritual journey since. Praise the Lord!

That's what's on my heart tonight. Be blessed.

The Green Horse of the Apocalypse

#848: The Lord has indeed revealed much to Yours Truly KJS over the last month or three by various means and He is very definitely changing and moulding me as He sees fit. I am especially thankful as it demonstrates His faithfulness and love for someone who is a prodigal in more ways than one.

Those familiar with The Book of The Revelation of Jesus Christ have heard of the Four Horses of the Apocalypse and that they are white, black, red and pale in colour. Many recognise the colours white, black and red and associate them with the coming of Antichrist, wars (and rumours of  wars) and famine, pestilences et al. In many Bibles, the fourth horse of the Apocalypse is termed pale which is an indistinct colour next to the other three when reading the text in English.

"When He opened the fourth seal, I heard the voice of the fourth living creature saying, “Come and see.” So I looked, and behold, a pale horse. And the name of him who sat on it was Death, and Hades followed with him. And power was given to them over a fourth of the earth, to kill with sword, with hunger, with death, and by the beasts of the earth." (Revelation 6:7-8, NKJV)

In my Interlinear Greek-English New Testament, we find that the Greek word translated as pale in Revelation 6:7 is χλωρός or chloros. From chloros we get the word chlorophyll which is the green pigment found in plants. Whilst χλωρός or chloros can mean pale, yellowish green or verdant green, it is not unreasonable to read χλωρός as green and therefore we could read Revelation 6:7 as: "When He opened the fourth seal, I heard the voice of the fourth living creature saying, “Come and see.” So I looked, and behold, a green horse. And the name of him who sat on it was Death, and Hades followed with him. And power was given to them over a fourth of the earth, to kill with sword, with hunger, with death, and by the beasts of the earth."

What comes to mind is that the colour green is associated with islam but might also bring the environmentalist movement into view. Many years ago, I remember suggesting that the reason that so many True Believers are beheaded for their faith (see also Revelation 20:4) might be because the chief method of execution enacted by islam is beheading. The fifth seal mentioned in Revelation 6:9-11 states that John "saw under the altar the souls of those who had been slain for the word of God and for the testimony which they held" and that "that they should rest a little while longer, until both the number of their fellow servants and their brethren, who would be killed as they were, was completed."

Note that the fifth seal bears witness of the results of the fourth seal. One wonders if we are yet to see the full nature and fruit of rampant islam when it comes to the persecution of the True Church and other infidels if we understand that the fourth horse of the Apocalypse is in fact green rather than pale. This is something to test, pray about and be prepared for.

That's what's on my heart today. Be blessed.

Biblical Flat Earth Cosmology

#847: For the last 500 years and more so in the last few generations, most people been taught or have come to believe in the idea that the earth is a spinning spheroid orbiting the sum at a distance of circa 93 million miles at a speed of around 65,000 miles an hour. The intent of this article is to encourage Christians and genuine truth seekers to investigate this teaching.

It's a huge step change to even consider that not only is our perception of the world very different to reality but also to consider that many of the building blocks of our society are a very clever, well thought out deception so cunning that most people will not even stop and challenge the status quo for themselves, as is the case with the theory of evolution.

But remember, if you will, this thought. If you want to people to miss the True Gospel and go to a lost eternity, you need to indoctrinate man from birth with the belief that there is no Creator and, by extension,  no devil and no need for a Saviour. If you can convince people that they are glorified apes and that the universe is vast and old, then you have them.

The Book of Genesis in chapter one clearly teaches that the earth was created with a firmament (the Hebrew word rāqîaʿ or רָקִ֫יעַ can be derived as "to beat or spread out thinly") separated between two waters (always plural in Hebrew and never singular), one below on earth and the other above the firmament or Heaven (the Hebrew word Shamayim (שָׁמַיִם) literally means 'heavens' in the plural), suggesting that earth and its atmosphere is covered by a separating canopy over which what we call the heavens exist. If taken literally, the possibility that the earth is not a globe should at least be considered as part of a biblical flat earth cosmology. Psalm 19 tells us that the heavens declare the glory of the God and Romans 1 informs us that since the creation of the world that the invisible attributes of the Lord are clearly seen so that there is no excuse for the unbeliever. What greater glory could there be that the creation account is completely true and that a flat earth still replete with its canopy is literally the footstool of the Lord (Isaiah 66:1).
Just as there is evidently much resistance in the world to the creation account due to the religion of evolution, there would be even more opposition to the masses finding out that they have been sold another lie that if exposed would utterly change their worldview and open the gospel to many. That the so-called scientific community, world governments and even NASA have conspired to hoodwink most of a fallen world really does fulfill Jesus' admonition to be wary of deception in these last days, especially when considering that many NASA astronauts were allegedly 33rd degree Freemasons, thereby being fully aware of which master they serve. I guess that what Yours Truly KJS is saying today is that people should never rule anything out when it comes to Satan's guile and that YOU should check ALL things out for yourself. I shall be addressing this subject again soon. With this in mind, please consider reading and meditating on these inspired words again...

"In the beginning God created the heavens and the earth. The earth was without form, and void; and darkness was on the face of the deep. And the Spirit of God was hovering over the face of the waters. Then God said, “Let there be light”; and there was light. And God saw the light, that it was good; and God divided the light from the darkness. God called the light Day, and the darkness He called Night. So the evening and the morning were the first day. Then God said, “Let there be a firmament in the midst of the waters, and let it divide the waters from the waters.” Thus God made the firmament, and divided the waters which were under the firmament from the waters which were above the firmament; and it was so. And God called the firmament Heaven. So the evening and the morning were the second day."
~ Genesis 1:1-8 ~

"The heavens declare the glory of God; And the firmament shows His handiwork. Day unto day utters speech, And night unto night reveals knowledge. There is no speech nor language where their voice is not heard. Their line has gone out through all the earth, And their words to the end of the world. In them He has set a tabernacle for the sun, Which is like a bridegroom coming out of his chamber, And rejoices like a strong man to run its race. Its rising is from one end of heaven, And its circuit to the other end; And there is nothing hidden from its heat."
~ Psalm 19:1-6 ~

"For since the creation of the world His invisible attributes are clearly seen, being understood by the things that are made, even His eternal power and Godhead, so that they are without excuse, because, although they knew God, they did not glorify Him as God, nor were thankful, but became futile in their thoughts, and their foolish hearts were darkened. Professing to be wise, they became fools."
~ Romans 1:20-22 ~

The Book of Enoch

#846: If you have ever wanted more detail of what the world was like before the Great Flood of Noah, particularly on the sons of God a la the Nephilim (the fallen ones), The Book of Enoch will fill in the gaps and also furnish the reader with vital information on demonology and spiritual warfare that will serve many believers well in the days to come which will conclude with the Great Tribulation.and the parousia of the Lord Jesus Christ.

Whilst the true reasons for the removal of I Enoch (and The Apocrypha as a whole) are not fully understood, one can be certain that Christians (particularly in the west) are ill prepared not only for current deceptions (the pre-tribulation rapture theory being one) but also those to come. For that reason alone, Yours Truly KJS recommends that believers avail themselves of a copy of The Book of Enoch and ready/study it intently. You will then understand why Jude cites it and other New Testament writers allude to and confirm it. In the meantime, this writer will be searching the rest of The Apocrypha for more scriptural treasures ...

The Ten Commandments

#845: Having just watched a portion of the excellent DVD "REVEALING God's Treasure" (go to for further information) wherein the late Ron Wyatt explains his journey to finding the resting place of the Ark of the Covenant, Yours Truly KJS just wants to acknowledge the wonder of God and His grace towards this particular sinner and the absolute necessity that we ask the Holy Spirit to write the Ten Commandments upon our hearts as the world hurtles towards the Great Tribulation and the dreaded mark of the beast.

All I ask is that you consider these hallowed words wherein the Lord Jesus Christ hangs the Ten Commandments on two precepts in Matthew 22:34-40 and, the full discourse of God's rules for living in Exodus 20:1-17 thus ...

But when the Pharisees heard that He (Jesus) had silenced the Sadducees, they gathered together. Then one of them, a lawyer, asked Him a question, testing Him, and saying, “Teacher, which is the great commandment in the law?” Jesus said to him, "You shall love the Lord your God with all your heart, with all your soul, and with all your mind." This is the first and great commandment. And the second is like it: "You shall love your neighbour as yourself." On these two commandments hang all the Law and the Prophets." (Matthew 22:34-40)

And God spoke all these words, saying: "I am the Lord your God, who brought you out of the land of Egypt, out of the house of bondage.
#1 You shall have no other gods before Me.
#2 You shall not make for yourself a carved image - any likeness of anything that is in heaven above, or that is in the earth beneath, or that is in the water under the earth; you shall not bow down to them nor serve them. For I, the Lord your God, am a jealous God, visiting the iniquity of the fathers upon the children to the third and fourth generations of those who hate Me, but showing mercy to thousands, to those who love Me and keep My commandments.
#3 You shall not take the name of the Lord your God in vain, for the Lord will not hold him guiltless who takes His name in vain.
#4 Remember the Sabbath day, to keep it holy. Six days you shall labour and do all your work, but the seventh day is the Sabbath of the Lord your God. In it you shall do no work: you, nor your son, nor your daughter, nor your male servant, nor your female servant, nor your cattle, nor your stranger who is within your gates. For in six days the Lord made the heavens and the earth, the sea, and all that is in them, and rested the seventh day. Therefore the Lord blessed the Sabbath day and hallowed it.
#5 Honour your father and your mother, that your days may be long upon the land which the Lord your God is giving you.
#6 You shall not murder.
#7 You shall not commit adultery.
#8 You shall not steal.
#9 You shall not bear false witness against your neighbour.
#10 You shall not covet your neighbour's house; you shall not covet your neighbour’s wife, nor his male servant, nor his female servant, nor his ox, nor his donkey, nor anything that is your neighbour's." (Exodus 20:1-17)

The Lake of Fire: The Ultimate Gospel Witness

#844: Sometimes in life there is but a simple message that needs must be transmitted and the simplicity of the True Gospel meets that need. Lately Yours Truly KJS has been thinking on the number of people who have lived on planet earth since the Creation narrative around 6,000 years ago. Perhaps 10 million, perhaps more. Considering that hell (sheol) was created with fallen angels in mind, it is galling to try and imagine how many lost souls are destined for the lake of fire (Revelation 20:15) and just how big it will be. A place of eternal judgement and anguish, a pit of doom and a place where many of the people we know - family, friends, colleagues, strangers and even our enemies - will certainly end up.

"Therefore my people have gone into captivity, Because they have no knowledge; Their honourable men are famished, And their multitude dried up with thirst. Therefore Sheol has enlarged itself and opened its mouth beyond measure; Their glory and their multitude and their pomp, And he who is jubilant, shall descend into it." (Isaiah 5:13-14)

"Enter by the narrow gate; for wide is the gate and broad is the way that leads to destruction, and there are many who go in by it. Because narrow is the gate and difficult is the way which leads to life, and there are few who find it." (Matthew 7:13-14)

"And anyone not found written in the Book of Life was cast into the lake of fire." (Revelation 20:15)

If nothing else, this should motivate and stir up believers to pray and witness to the True Gospel of our Lord Jesus Christ (John 3:16-17). We should adorn the spiritual armour of Ephesians 6:11-18, specifically with our "feet shod with the preparation of the gospel of peace" and get out there while it is still day and we can still work.

That's what's on my heart tonight. Be blessed.

Leviathan's Ruse Volume One (Alexander Lawrence)

#843: The main reason that you've not seen anything published by this last week is because Yours Truly KJS has had his nose in not a few books, the main one being the excellent 2016 treatise by (Watchman) Alexander Lawrence entitled "Leviathan's Ruse Volume One: The Comprehensive Guide to the Battle Between Good & Evil)" (ISBN 9780997257809). This is a book wherein in the author quite rightly deserves his moniker as a watchman. There is plenty of deep research and an overflowing avalanche of information here that challenges the reader to revisit some of the major presuppositions made by many end times expositors and bible scholars. There are six ruses to be discussed and Volume One essentially covers the first three ruses as identified by Alexander Lawrence as end times prophecy confusion, occult knowledge/wonders and materialism.

At a time when there are many people out there espousing their interpretation of biblical eschatology, it is refreshing (and encouraging) to find an author and book highlighting the serious dangers of the false pre-tribulation rapture theory being expounded as fact by a major portion of Church seminaries (or perhaps cemeteries?), pastors and teachers that will likely be a significant contributor to the prophesied mass apostasia (falling away) before the revelation of Antichrist and the actual occurrence of the harpazo (rapture) - something highlighted by this writer in this recent article. I recommend that you prayerfully consider reading this book (see the above link for more information).

The Beginning of Wisdom

#842: This is probably the first time that I have done this. All last night, inside and outside of trying to sleep, this verse kept coming to mind. It may be a marker for me and/or it may be a specific word for someone who finds this blog whether by accident or as they are led. I'll leave it here ...

The False Ones

#841: I started out writing this article with the intention of talking about Christian goats but soon it became evident that Yours Truly KJS should direct my attention towards something else. This week has been a struggle but it has also been a week (literally) of revalidating Biblical truths on many levels, particularly when one looks at the astounding legacy of Ron Wyatt. In looking at the accuracy and trustworthiness of the Bible from Genesis to Revelation, I've been led to take a brief look at something the Lord Jesus Christ warned about relative to the latter days in Luke 21:8: "Take heed that you not be deceived. For many will come in My name, saying, ‘I am He,’ and, ‘The time has drawn near.’ Therefore do not go after them."

In other words: DECEPTION and by extension what I term the false ones. From the early Church through the centuries to the present day and in days yet future, the warnings of scripture ring out about false prophets, false apostles, false teachers and even false brethren. Having once been in a church where I had to actually pray that the prophet would leave me (and my family) alone (before we left), I'm acutely aware of the traps and snares that can lie in the way for new and mature believers , especially when we consider that anything God has created and established as good, Satan will invariably attempt to copy and counterfeit in his scheme to usurp God's Plan of True Salvation for mankind. In fact, you can add false doctrine to the list too. In the days ahead as we enter the Beginning of Sorrows, Daniel's 70th week and The Great Tribulation, we will need the compass of the the written Word and the Ruach Ha Kadesh (Holy Spirit) to steer us through major persecution and much spiritual wickedness. The false ones are before you ...

False Prophets
"Beware of false prophets, who come to you in sheep’s clothing, but inwardly they are ravenous wolves. You will know them by their fruits. Do men gather grapes from thorn bushes or figs from thistles? Even so, every good tree bears good fruit, but a bad tree bears bad fruit. A good tree cannot bear bad fruit, nor can a bad tree bear good fruit. Every tree that does not bear good fruit is cut down and thrown into the fire. Therefore by their fruits you will know them." (Matthew 7:15-20)

"But there were also false prophets among the people, even as there will be false teachers among you, who will secretly bring in destructive heresies, even denying the Lord who bought them, and bring on themselves swift destruction." (II Peter 2:1)

False Teachers
"Woe to you, scribes and Pharisees, hypocrites! For you are like white washed tombs which indeed appear beautiful outwardly, but inside are full of dead men’s bones and all uncleanness" (Matthew 23:27)

"I (Paul) marvel that you are turning away so soon from Him who called you in the grace of Christ, to a different gospel, which is not another; but there are some who trouble you and want to pervert the gospel of Christ. But even if we, or an angel from heaven, preach any other gospel to you than what we have preached to you, let him be accursed. As we have said before, so now I say again, if anyone preaches any other gospel to you than what you have received, let him be accursed. (Galatians 1:6-9)

False Apostles
"But what I (Paul) do, I will also continue to do, that I may cut off the opportunity from those who desire an opportunity to be regarded just as we are in the things of which they boast. For such are false apostles, deceitful workers, transforming themselves into apostles of Christ. And no wonder! For Satan himself transforms himself into an angel of light. Therefore it is no great thing if his ministers also transform themselves into ministers of righteousness, whose end will be according to their works." (II Corinthians 11:12-15)

False Brethren
"And this occurred because of false brethren secretly brought in (who came in by stealth ... that they might bring us into bondage)" (Galatians 2:4)

"But know this, that in the last days perilous times will come: For men will be lovers of themselves, lovers of money, boasters, proud, blasphemers, disobedient to parents, unthankful, unholy, unloving, unforgiving, slanderers, without self-control, brutal, despisers of good, traitors, headstrong, haughty, lovers of pleasure rather than lovers of God, having a form of godliness but denying its power. And from such people turn away! For of this sort are those who creep into households and make captives of gullible women loaded down with sins, led away by various lusts, always learning and never able to come to the knowledge of the truth." (II Timothy 3:1-7)

That's what's on my heart today. Be blessed.

The Third Temple Paradox

#840: Lately I've been thinking how tired I am of this world and how much I'd like to meet up with the Lord Jesus Christ. Don't be alarmed or shocked at these thoughts as we should all choose God over mammon when it comes to our worldview. Students of Bible eschatology (end times theology), especially those not sucked into the falsehood of pretribulationism, therefore find the forthcoming events of prophecy such as Daniel's 70th week, the covenant of death, the Great Tribulation, the revelation of Antichrist and, of course, the Second Advent of the Lord Jesus Christ of immense personal interest leading many believers to constantly survey the happenings in Israel.

"Seventy weeks are determined for your people and for your holy city, To finish the transgression, To make an end of sins, To make reconciliation for iniquity, To bring in everlasting righteousness, To seal up vision and prophecy, And to anoint the Most Holy. Know therefore and understand, That from the going forth of the command to restore and build Jerusalem until Messiah the Prince, There shall be seven weeks and sixty-two weeks; The street shall be built again, and the wall, Even in troublesome times. And after the sixty-two weeks Messiah shall be cut off, but not for Himself; And the people of the prince who is to come shall destroy the city and the sanctuary. The end of it shall be with a flood, And till the end of the war desolations are determined. Then he shall confirm a covenant with many for one week; But in the middle of the week he shall bring an end to sacrifice and offering. And on the wing of abominations shall be one who makes desolate, Even until the consummation, which is determined, Is poured out on the desolate." ~ Daniel 9:24-27

The result of this mindset is that whilst we await those long prophesied events to be unveiled, we also long for either what is promised in eternity on the other side of this present life or the events depicted in the Book of Revelation. I've just read Thomas R. Horn's new book "The Rabbis, Donald Trump, and the Top-Secret Plan to Build the Third Temple: Unveiling the Incendiary Scheme by Religious Authorities, Government Agents, and Jewish Rabbis to Invoke Messiah" and, for sure, it's an interesting if not compelling read. Having been blessed to visit Jerusalem in May 2008 and also check out The Temple Institute whilst there, it was rather amazing to see what preparations were already taking place towards the goal of The Third Temple let alone what has happened since.

"For then there will be great tribulation, such as has not been since the beginning of the world until this time, no, nor ever shall be." ~ Matthew 24:21

The paradox is that the building of said Third Temple will precede the worst holocaust in human history and the reign of the worst despot in history too meaning death for many True Believers and Jews. What Yours Truly KJS doesn't understand is that many Christians confuse their support for Israel with unabashed support for the building of The Third Temple, a building that will see Jews seeking salvation in the blood of bulls and goats rather than in the Finished Work of their Messiah Yeshua and will also house the Abomination of Desolation as spoken by the prophet Daniel. True Christians should be supporting the work of born again Messianic and Arabic assemblies in Israel rather than encouraging many Jewish souls to their destruction. The error of dispensationalism not only has foisted the false pre-tribulation rapture theory on the church but has also encouraged pro-Israel speakers such as John Hagee to teach that Jews can still be right with God under the Law as opposed to having saving faith in the Lord Jesus Christ.

"Let no one deceive you by any means; for that Day will not come unless the falling away comes first, and the man of sin is revealed, the son of perdition, who opposes and exalts himself above all that is called God or that is worshipped, so that he sits as God in the temple of God, showing himself that he is God." ~ II Thessalonians 2:3-4

May I encourage all readers of this article to indeed keep watching events in Israel but to refrain from actually supporting the building of The Third Temple? What will be, will be. God will fulfil His Word in His time. The most important truth at this time is that the True Church should be praying for the salvation of all people, both Jew and Gentile. Don't cast your pearls to false religion and false doctrine, cast them as you are led by the Lord according to His Will.

That's what's on my heart today. Be blessed.
