This Generation

#903: Biblically speaking, a generation is around or about forty (40) years. As I read the bible and read about the scriptures, there is no getting away from the number of times that the LORD Jesus Christ uses the phrase "this generation" in the gospels. He doesn't say "that generation" or a future generation or any other generation in these contexts, He ties certain statements and prophecies chronologically in a certain time frame.

"The men of Ninevah shall rise in judgment with this generation" (Matthew 12:41)
"The queen of the south shall rise up in the judgment with this generation" (Matthew 12:42)
"Even so shall it be also unto this wicked generation" (Matthew 12:45)
"All these things shall come upon this generation" (Matthew 23:36)
"This generation shall not pass, till all these things be fulfilled" (Matthew 24:34)
"Why does this generation seek after a sign?" (Mark 8:12)
"There shall be no sign given to this generation" (Mark 8:12)
"... in this adulterous and sinful generation" (Mark 8:38)
"That this generation shall not pass, till all these things be done" (Mark 13:30)
"Whereunto shall I liken the men of this generation? (Luke 7:31)
"This is an evil generation: they seek a sign" (Luke 11:29)
"So shall also the Son of man be to this generation" (Luke 11:30)
"... shall rise up in the judgment with the men of this generation" (Luke 11:31)
"The men of Nineve shall rise in the judgment with this generation" (Luke 11:32)
"That the blood of the prophets ... may be required of this generation" (Luke 11:50)
"It shall be required of this generation" (Luke 11:51)
"But first must he suffer many things, and be rejected of this generation" (Luke 17:25)
"This generation shall not pass away, till all be fulfilled" (Luke 21:32)
"Save yourselves from this untoward generation" (Acts 2:40)

Consider today the above quotes. Some of them are covered in The Olivet Discourse but all of them speak of judgment and chastisement of the generation that Jesus encountered in His ministry from His baptism and anointing in 27AD to His crucifixion during Passover in 31AD. If a generation is indeed 40 years, one must therefore investigate what major events occurred before 71AD. This writer suggests that you look up and check out the Jewish-Roman War. A honest study will surprise many Christians in our generation. More on this subject later.

At this pivotal time, it is essential that True Christians and others CHECK WHAT IS BEING REPORTED FOR THEMSELVES and follow the example of the Bereans. Are you?

"For God so loved the world that He gave His only begotten Son, that whoever believes in Him should not perish but have everlasting life. For God did not send His Son into the world to condemn the world, but that the world through Him might be saved." (John 3:16-17)

"For I know the thoughts that I think toward you, saith the LORD, thoughts of peace, and not of evil, to give you an expected end." (Jeremiah 29:11)

Real Bereans (Acts 17:11) are truly needed, watchmen must WARN, evangelists must COMPEL, do not be DECEIVED and WATCH that PERIPHERY!

Recommended: Author David Nikao Wilcoxson

#902: Having been very much schooled in then futurist view of the Book of Revelation and having been open to the possibility that just as many folks got the first advent of the LORD Jesus Christ wrong hence it could also be so with His second advent, I must confess that I'm really enjoying reading the writings of David Nikao Wilcoxson, a Christian author who is neither a classic preterist or a futurist when it comes to biblical eschatology.

I came across David quite by accident (or maybe it was a divine appointment) when literally looking elsewhere when his youtube channel came up as a recommended pick and I felt compelled to investigate further. His explanation of the fulfillment of Daniel's 70th Week is compelling and I'm currently working through his treatise on Revelation. Basically, David argues that most of Revelation has been You fulfilled since the Apostle John penned the final book of the Bible with only a few final events scheduled to occur before Messiah returns to the Mount of Olives in the not-too-distant future. You truly need an open mind (and heart) to read his treatises, to consider David's research and be willing to be challenged.

All three of David's books: "The 70th Week of Daniel Decoded", "The Olivet Discourse Decoded" and "Revelation Timeline Decoded" are available to preview/buy via amazon. Please find links below to his Christianity Beliefs website et al for your perusal thus:

Expect a further Berean Beacon comment/review/article by Yours Truly KJS when all three volumes are read, considered and (spiritually) digested!
