Nicodemus

#909: There is a man who has always impressed me who was with the LORD Jesus Christ at the outset of His ministry, during it and when it was completed. I'm not talking about John, Peter, Matthew or the other disciples - much as I, if course, admire them. I'm talking about Nicodemus.

Nicodemus was a Pharisee and therefore a member of a Jewish sect who were known for their extreme if not observance of the traditional and written law, and thought to be somewhat sanctimonious. It's well known that most Pharisees were aligned against Messiah and His mission. But Nicodemus was different. He recognised something in what Jesus taught and how He conducted Himself. Three accounts of Nicodemus are to be found in the Gospel of John.

The first mention is found in John 3:1-21 when Nicodemus comes to Jesus by night (in secret) and confesses that the miracles performed by Jesus can only be of God. Jesus famously teaches Nicodemus the truth of the need to be born again. Clearly, Nicodemus is open to the truth that Jesus proclaims despite the fact that he likely is well versed in the scriptures and oral traditions. he doesn't stumble over his own pride as many of his fellow Pharisees evidently did. We - like Nicodemus - need to have a teachable spirit.

Nicodemus' second appearance in John's account comes in John 7:45-52 when Jesus is being accused by the Pharisees of deceiving the Jews. Interestingly, Nicodemus is much more open in his defence of Jesus in querying why the Pharisees won't at least listen to Him before rejecting His teaching. Their response is dismissal but I suspect that Nicodemus was the type of person who was happy to stand his ground even if he were in the minority (the remnant). So should we be.

We hear of Nicodemus a third and final time in John 19:39-42 where he joins with Joseph of Arimathaea (another secret disciple at that time) in taking away the body of Jesus for its anointing with spices, wrapping and burial (as was the custom of the Jews) in the brand new garden tomb in the hours before the Resurrection. We see here faith, respect and obedience in action. Surely something that is an example for us to both follow and witness with.

For me, Nicodemus remains an unsung hero of the faith - and always will be!

Children of the Devil

#908: It's been a while since this writer listened to the excellent 8CD audio presentation that is "The Gospels Come To Life" as read by Michael W. Smith. You pick so much up when listening to the Word and the LORD Jesus Christ as well as when reading both. I noticed something new today. Something where perhaps I'd missed out on the apparent irony. In John 8:44 we read:

"Ye are of your father the devil, and the lusts of your father ye will do: he hath been a murderer from the beginning, and abode not in the truth, because there is no truth in him. When he speaketh a lie, then speaketh he of his own: for he is a liar, and the father thereof."

The Pharisees were claiming that Abraham was their father and that the LORD was a Samaritan whilst insinuating that He was demon possessed. They were told by Jesus  in no uncertain terms that they were not. Is it not therefore interesting to note that they incited the Jews, the people, to choose the freedom of one called Jesus Barabbas over Jesus of Nazareth. They chose a murderer ahead of the LORD of Life. Perhaps Jesus was prophesying in John 8:44 that the children of the devil (a murderer from the beginning) chose a murderer (Matthew 27:21; Mark 15:7,11; Luke 23:18-19; John 18:40) and rejected their Messiah in the process (for which they paid a heavy price in 70AD) proving His Word fully and completely.

Stars

#907: Something crossed my mind the other day as if to highlight what was said recently in my article entitled: "The Sun of Righteousness" on Friday 5th March and that is how often we, in popular modern culture, casually use the word star in describing well known pop stars, sports stars, stage stars, movie stars, Hollywood stars - the list goes on.

Most folks don't ever wonder why their fave personalities in whatever genre are termed stars yet when (in context) we come across the word star or stars in the Bible, it's taken literally without using scripture to define scripture or carrying out due diligence. Just as waters can refer to many peoples, so might it be that the word star may not be referring to alleged large balls of burning gas in so-called 'space' but perchance someone in authority, a leader or similar.

Think on that when you next read Matthew 24, Mark 13, Luke 21 or Revelation!

Latin Lesson

#906: Here's some brief Latin food for thought when it comes to three words that are rammed into your news feed every day during the current government controlled CONvid-19 plandemic ...

Government (gubernare + mens) = To control the mind
Person (persona) = Masks worn by actors on stage
Vaccine, vaccination (vaccinia) = (Cow) pox virus
Virus = Poisonous substance

Is it not interesting that virus equates to a poisonous substance rather than something that it allegedly living. A virus is actually the remnant material (exosomes) expunged by the body as part of the immune system detoxification rather than a so-called dangerous germ or bug that can be transmitted and the only way that viruses can leap from body to body is via a vaccine needle.

Always try to find out the root of words, whether in the Bible or not so that you understand their construction, source and, ultimately, the true meaning thereof.

The Sun of Righteousness

#905: Malachi chapter four verse two has always intrigued me and caught my attention. The use of the word "sun" (Hebrew: "Shemesh"; Strongs #8121) in the translation rather than "son" (Hebrew: "Ben"; Strongs #1121) is key but there is more to consider.

"But unto you that fear my name, shall the sun of righteousness arise, and health shall be under his wings, and ye shall go forth and grow up as fat calves."

The above scripture is, of course, pointing to Messiah and we see the use of symbolism wherein the sun equates to the LORD Jesus Christ, to authority, a ruler. Remember Joseph's dream?

"Again he dreamed another dream, and told it his brethren, and said, Behold, I have had one dream more, and behold, the Sun and the Moon and eleven stars did reverence to me." (Genesis 37:9)

Joseph's dream references him being reverenced by the luminaries which, of course, should not be taken literally but should be taken to mean his father, mother(s) and brothers. We see many examples of this kind of heavenly symbolism throughout the Word of God. My intent today is to encourage you to read Matthew 24:29 (The Olivet Discourse) with this in mind:

"And immediately after the tribulations of those days shall the sun be darkened, and the moon shall not give her light, and the stars shall fall from heaven, and the powers of heaven shall be shaken."

Here's my point: What if a perceived end time scripture that many take to be literal is symbolic in the same way as Malachi 4:2 and Genesis 37:9? How does this impact a futuristic interpretation in eschatological terms? Food for thought indeed ...

Germ Theory is but a Theory

#904: The Bible tells us that a house built on sand will surely fall. The same goes for any belief, theory or mindset when, at its core, it is based on a false foundation. A lot of the problems with the proliferation of and intense control of Big Pharma and the medical mafia over governments and state health institutions - particularly with the current CONvid-19 plandemic - is due to the mistaken belief in Louis Pasteur's Germ Theory which essentially postulates that all disease and illness is due to the presence of germs and bacteria.

Germ Theory is just that and the antithesis to it is Antoine Béchamp's Terrain Theory which is based (in his own words) on the proposal that "Germs seek their natural habitat – diseased tissue – rather than being the cause of diseased tissue." The absolute reliance by many on Germ Theory drives many profits for the pharmaceutical industry as medicines are continually rolled out to combat those nasty bugs, germs and (allegedly) viruses that are believed to cause all our ills. Terrain Theory holds that is is our environment, the toxins that we encounter in our polluted world and how our bodily immune system is able to deal with such antagonists that actually defines reality. The difference between the theories can be explained like this:

Imagine that you are walking somewhere and you come across a dead animal and it's covered with maggots. Germ Theory will tell you that the maggots killed the animal. Terrain Theory will say that the animal died as a result of something and that the maggots are simply feeding on dead tissue. Germ Theory will therefore drive the derivation of medicines to kill the maggots whereas Terrain Theory will seek to examine the animal and seek to ultimately define what caused the death that led to the presence of the maggots. Do you see the difference?

After much study, this particular writer believes that Terrain Theory is much nearer the truth than Pasteur's folly. Much money can be made from treating the supposed symptoms of disease whereas if the problem is toxins in our environment, our food, our water, our air etc. then there is much less profit to hand in improving the lot of ordinary folks. Think about it.
