Treading Water

#932: When I was young I remember thinking that I could tread water forever (if I was so minded) and never drown. This, of course, was folly. Even if I could swim relatively long distances (and I could), I would eventually struggle and (of course) go under.

Why do I say this? The reason is because I perceive that Christians often walk in their own strength rather than let the LORD Jesus Christ work through them thanx to the imbued power of the Holy Spirit. We tread water, spiritually speaking, sometimes happily in complete ignorance. We need to recognise how weak we truly are (2 Corinthians 12:10) and how much more we need to surrender to God in the less obvious, deep recesses of our soul and our life.

May we reflect on that truth inwardly as if one is treading water they are going nowhere.

"For God so loved the world that He gave His only begotten Son, that whoever believes in Him should not perish but have everlasting life. For God did not send His Son into the world to condemn the world, but that the world through Him might be saved." (John 3:16-17)

"For I know the thoughts that I think toward you, saith the LORD, thoughts of peace, and not of evil, to give you an expected end." (Jeremiah 29:11)

Real Bereans (Acts 17:11) are truly needed, watchmen must WARN, evangelists must COMPEL, do not be DECEIVED and WATCH that PERIPHERY!
